A well-established Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) policy with supporting procedures is of utmost importance to both the GAC Group and our principals.
GAC is a service provider with a focus on performance, and our main asset is our people. Therefore, we must ensure that within GAC we can work in a healthy, safe and secure environment. Likewise, when we are working with customers and suppliers, it is essential that we maintain a level of HSSE that fits not only with our own standards, but theirs as well.
Failure to continually improve or comply with the Group’s HSSE standards can be very costly both in terms of money and – in the worst case – the loss of life.
This course is designed to provide a strong foundation and working knowledge of HSSE basics, how HSSE is incorporated into our GAC culture, the impact it has on our relationships with customers, and what you personally can do as a HSSE ambassador in the GAC World.
The HSSE course covers the following themes:
HSSE Basics – This section introduces the basic terminology used in HSSE and the HSSE culture in GAC. In particular, there is an emphasis on the HSSE reporting culture of GAC. It also covers the HSSE Management System and the full set of HSSE procedures for GAC.
HSSE and You – This section outlines our major customers’ HSSE requirements and the importance of working within these, as well as an overview of the Chairman’s Environment Award.
HSSE is a two week course, delivered through our state-of-the-art interactive online Learning Management System, GAClearn.
GCA eLearning courses require approximately five hours per week for all courses. It is the expectation of the GAC Group Management that all GAC employees are provided with sufficient time to complete the core requirements of each course within working hours. In order to establish higher results, participants are encouraged to fully complete all activities, and additional personal time may be required outside of working hours.
“I have found the GAC HSSE course very informative and interesting. Being able to expand on the everyday knowledge of Health and Safety is key. The discussions and feedback have been so insightful into other departments and countries working environments. I now feel that I have the “know how” and confidence to report any matter that I see to my HSSE Representative.”

“Being part of this HSSE programme and learning more about the HSSE procedures has made me be more aware of the health and safety hazards around me. I now understand better that it takes a collective effort to keep our environment safe to live in, it has also helped me to be more safety conscious. Having been a part of this course as truly been a wonderful experience. I have learnt a lot.”
